Lanes on University Avenue at Bayfront Expressway are closed until noon, Menlo Park police announced shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 20), following a crash that seriously injured two drivers.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows that one car, heading east, crossed the median into oncoming traffic in the westbound lane of University Avenue, and hit another car head-on.
The drivers, both women, were taken to Stanford Hospital for treatment of possibly life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
The collision remains under investigation, and the westbound lanes of traffic on University Avenue are closed indefinitely; one eastbound lane is shut down as well. Police ask drivers to take alternate routes.
