President Donald Trump is in the Bay Area today for a fundraiser luncheon in the Palo Alto foothills, at the Portola Valley border.
The luncheon is planned at a $97-million home of former Sun Microsystems CEO Scott McNealy, 610 Los Trancos Road. (View photos of the mansion here).
The president arrived at Moffett Field shortly after 11 a.m. and arrived at the fundraiser at 11:40 a.m. He plans to leave the area at 2:10 p.m. and travel by motorcade.
Trump’s visit is his first to the Bay Area since a fundraiser was held in Woodside for his 2016 election campaign at the home of private equity firm CEO Saul Fox.
Politico reported yesterday that today’s luncheon would also be held there, but that information has since been removed from its website.
Politico previously reported that the luncheon could be in Atherton, but police Chief Steve McCulley confirmed Trump won’t be in the town in an email to The Almanac, Palo Alto Online’s sister paper.
Local Democratic activists are protesting Trump’s visit. Initially, Backbone Campaign scheduled a protest at San Antonio Road and Foothill Expressway in Los Altos with “Baby Trump” and “Chicken Trump” inflatable balloons. But after the luncheon location became known, the protest moved to Rossotti Field in Portola Valley, 3919 Alpine Road.
Donors are paying $1,000 to $100,000 for tickets to the event. At the $100,000 level (per couple) the guests will get to attend an exclusive “roundtable” meeting with President Trump prior to the luncheon. Both the $100,000 level and $35,000 level (also per couple) come with the opportunity to take a photo with the president.
California donors have already given $6.5 million to the Trump re-election campaign from January through June this year, according to Politico.

He shut down Hwy 101, Caltrain, many of the bike paths around Mountain View. Hope his fundraiser was fun enough to justify the waste and cost to the local community.

He never showed himself openly in public, he snuck in and out in a matter of hours, we got to see the Cry Baby trump Balloon, and then the rain washed the trump funk off everything the next day.
All in all, it was about as best as could be expected. LOL.
I had breakfast on the coast this morning and there was no orange glow at sunrise. Life is good. We have so much to be appreciative for in this area.

It’s OK, really, not all have trump hate but many do think he’s a joke, even this ex-trump voter. I figure, I was forced to take a bite out of a “S” sandwich last election, but I don’t have to claim it tastes delicious.
@ Resident – Trump flew into Moffett and only drove to Portola Valley through our small towns so the inconvenience was minimal. When Obama was in office he decided to stay for brunch in LA the morning after an evening fundraiser so didn’t leave until 10:00am. Since he flew out of LAX he shut down the airport and ALL the commuter freeway routes in LA for the entire morning so pretty much shut down commerce for the entire day in a major metropolitan city. It was SO inconsiderate and so unnecessary as he could have left at night after the fundraiser. Did you complain when Obama came to town? He was in Palo Alto several times for fundraisers.

The irony is that all the libs complain about Trump’s behavior (and deservedly so) but then they behave just like him with the constant insults, name-calling, ridiculing, etc. How juvenile is that balloon? The president has the right to be here and do as he like, just like any other citizen. I’m sure you didn’t whine at the cost or bother when Obama and Clinton did the same. I had to deal with their disruption many times, so I’m sure you’ll survive.

The constant hate is getting old and pathetic. No new ideas that aren’t crazy and destructive, nothing that hasn’t been said a million times. Just constant hate while things get better for millions. You can’t deal with the positive, so you lash out. Sad really.
