Leadership Mountain View will be hosting a conversation this week about the future of local news on the Peninsula with Adam Dawes, the CEO of Embarcadero Media Foundation, which is the Voice’s parent organization.
On Tuesday evening, moderator Rajiv Mehta will lead a discussion titled “Local News in Crisis: Does It Have a Future on the Peninsula?” in which Dawes will speak about the importance and challenges of local journalism.
The “fireside chat” will include time for audience questions. Embarcadero Media Foundation publishes the Mountain View Voice, as well as the Palo Alto Weekly, The Almanac in Menlo Park and the Redwood City Pulse. The organization also has three news outlets in the East Bay.
Embarcadero Media converted to a nonprofit model at the start of 2024 in an effort to become financially sustainable and be able to continue providing local journalism to the community.
Tuesday’s event will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on June 17 in Graham Middle School’s multi-use room, 1175 Castro St. The main event will run from 7-8 p.m.
