If revenge is truly a dish best served cold, that dish takes the form of a popsicle for Woodside resident Claudia Fung, founder of Moss + Wonder, a homemade popsicle stand she operates on select warm weekend days among the moss-covered redwoods of Kings Mountain.
Claudia and her husband’s home is located in an area that’s popular with cyclists, and after moving there in 2018 the couple started noticing their property was a popular pit stop for bikers when nature called. Claudia figured she might as well make money off the cyclists as a means of revenge, and a popsicle recipe book from a neighbor helped inspire her idea for a popsicle stand.
She’s now befriended the Kings Mountain cyclists who climb the roads to her stand, eagerly awaiting a cold, refreshing sweet treat, as well as neighbors and other community members. While her organic fruit popsicles are healthier than the mass-produced popsicles of our youth, Claudia said they still have a way of evoking a childlike excitement in customers.
“Popsicles are simple and have a way of bringing us back to childhood,” she said.
