If there’s ever been a better time to take a break from our screens and get our hands dirty β€” like literally covered in dirt β€” I can’t think of it. With the start of spring and Earth Month upon us, there are plenty of events geared toward connecting you with nature and sharing appreciation for the natural world around us. From tree plantings and group cleanups to animal encounters and hands-on activities, there are Earth Month-themed events on the Peninsula all April long. Angela Swartz has circled the World Wide Web for this year’s Earth Month guide, which you can find below.

And it’s apropos that this week’s food feature is about a restaurant called Wildflour. The new South City spot, which serves baked goods as well as beer paired with charcuterie boards, pays homage to the Golden State and co-owner Darwin Tse’s 3-year-old daughter. Darwin, a former Genentech employee, wanted to open an after-work destination for locals and tech workers alike after noticing a dearth of options around South San Francisco. Read Adrienne Mitchel’s profile of Wildflour ahead of its grand opening this weekend.

Cantor Arts Center’s new exhibit gets a handle on unique pieces from the permanent collection

Cantor Arts Center exhibition highlights an array of objects that all have a ubiquitous feature. β€œIt’s like going on a treasure hunt without a map,” curator Peter Crowley said of gathering objects for the show.

Baked goods, charcuterie boards and beer pairings are the focus of a new South San Francisco eatery catering to tech workers and locals alike

For Millbrae resident Darwin Tse, his debut restaurant Wildflour is much more than a gathering place for beers, charcuterie boards and baked goods – it’s a fulfilled lifelong dream that he hopes will set an example for his 3-year-old daughter.

Congrats toΒ Daniel Chai of Los Altos Hills, who was the first reader to correctly identify where last week’s photo was taken (it’s Tal Palo in Los Altos!).
