Last weekend I spent part of an afternoon at the library with my 6-year-old niece, my sister-in-law and my husband, painting designs we had traced with carbon paper and pencils. As someone who couldn’t remember the last time they’d picked up a paintbrush, my resulting artwork was far from a masterpiece. But it was a 90-minute activity that gave me an excuse to put away my phone, chat with family members and get creative together.

Paint and sip nights and paint classes provide fun ways to get artsy while socializing with friends, family members or a partner. Check out our guide to brush up on your painting prowess.
