For more than three decades, artist Carolyn Tillie has been creating works that look good enough to eat – and wear. A necklace made of dyed pasta pieces, an eggplant brooch and dangling ice cream cone earrings are just a few of the culinary-inspired pieces Carolyn has made from her home studio in Montara. While her pieces span a spectrum of prices, her most popular ones are under $50.
Carolyn’s work embodies her intersecting passions for food and art. She also spends her time as a culinary historian organizing elaborate meal recreations through the Bay Area Culinary Historians (BACH), an organization she helps run. “Every day’s an adventure,” Carolyn said. “My desk is like a Victorian cabinet of wonders.” Read more about Carolyn’s quirky creations in Ashwini Gangal’s profile.
And here’s a cool bit of local history: A Mountain View company built many of Disneyland’s original attractions, including Snow White’s Adventures, the King Arthur Carousel and the Matterhorn Bobsled ride. Take a trip down memory lane to the Moffett Boulevard of yore to learn more.

Peninsula history: Meet the Mountain View machinists who helped build Disneyland
In the summer of 1955, Disneyland opened its gates for the first time, marking the beginning of a new era in theme parks. So what does the opening of an amusement park 400 miles away have to do with the Peninsula? Lots.
