Mountain View’s free shuttles are returning after a weeklong suspension caused by the expiration of the shuttle operator’s state license.
MVgo service resumed Thursday with afternoon service, while the Mountain View Community Shuttle was set to resume at 7 a.m. Friday, according to a Thursday evening city update.
All four MVgo routes were operating on their current schedules Thursday afternoon, and Uber vouchers for MVgo riders are no longer valid. Uber vouchers for community shuttle riders were scheduled to expire at 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the city.
Mountain View suspended both shuttle services June 18 because WeDriveU, the contracted operator, did not have a valid California Public Utilities Commission license required to operate the shuttles. California Public Utilities Commission licensing records showed WeDriveU’s certification expired June 9 and was renewed June 18, though additional inspections and approvals were still needed before service could resume, the Voice previously reported.
The disruption affected about 1,350 weekday riders, including roughly 1,000 Mountain View Community Shuttle riders and 350 MVgo riders. The Community Shuttle serves stops across the city, including shopping centers, parks, the senior center, El Camino Hospital and downtown Mountain View, while MVgo primarily serves commuters connecting to bus, light rail and train stations.
