Richard Cassel, 84, a Palo Alto resident and electrical engineer who spent his career designing power supplies for high-energy physics experiments, who worked at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford University for 25 years and who was active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, died on Sept. 10.

Jerome Walter Carlson, 88, an Atherton resident and former Atherton mayor who served as corporate controller at Hewlett-Packard, earned his MBA at Stanford University and served as a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, died on Sept. 11.

Richard Enthoven, 64, a Menlo-Atherton High School and Stanford University graduate who lived in Dallas, who had a career managing middle-market companies and who co-founded several small electric and tech companies, died on Sept. 4.
