Local residents who died recently include:
Patricia Frankenfield, 88, of Palo Alto, who served as a congressional assistant in the Senate and a case worker in the House of Representatives during the Kennedy administration, who spent 25 years with the Whisman School District in Mountain View, and who was known for her community service, love of theater, travel and hiking, died on May 1.
Janice “Jan” Fisher, 86, a Menlo Park resident, doting grandmother and loving mother who enjoyed playing bridge and tennis with the Racqueteers and who volunteered for over 20 years at Stanford hospital. She died on April 21.
Zelamire “Zel” Petrus Terluin, 70, born in the Netherlands, he emigrated to Palo Alto with his family and graduated from Palo Alto High School. After attending West Valley College, he worked as a driver for Palo Alto Ambulance Service and later for Kelly-Moore Paints before moving to Maui with his wife and son in 1989, where he was an active member of the community. He died on March 1.
Michael Kenneth “Mike” Kiya, 79, a Mountain View resident and devout Christian who graduated from Texas A&M and served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He worked at NASA Ames Research Center, was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of an endless array of subjects and his love of music. He died May 20, 2024.
