Starting in January, many senior center services were temporarily moved during the installation of new solar arrays and the electrification of the kitchen, which is now complete, according to city spokesperson Lenka Wright. Last year, the senior center parking lot was closed for about a week over the summer to accommodate the early stages of the construction work.

The senior nutrition program resumed Monday at the senior center after being held at the nearby Mountain View Community Center during construction. The program is run by the nonprofit Community Services Agency and offers hot lunches 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on weekdays in the Social Hall to those 60 years and older. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and sign-ups begin at 11 a.m.

Second Harvest Food Bank, which offers free groceries, has returned to Multipurpose Room A after being temporarily located at Rengstorff Park’s barbecue area. The program runs from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays with pre-registration required. To sign up for the program, call the food connection team at 1-800-984-3663.

Classes and club activities also are offered at the senior center. To view current offerings, visit the city’s website.
