Menlo School and Saint Francis each won quarterfinal matches in the Central Coast Section girls volleyball Open Division on Saturday morning and will advance to play on the road in Wednesday’s semifinal round.
In Division I, both Gunn and Menlo-Atherton won their first-round matches and will play one of the four top seeds in Tuesday’s quarterfinals.
Third-seeded Menlo beat No. 6 Sacred Heart Prep 25-22, 25-18, 25-12. It was their second meeting in four days and third this season.
The Knights (27-5) travel to play St. Ignatius (25-7) on Wednesday. The Wildcats needed five sets to squeeze past No. 7 Los Gatos.
Sharon Nejad led Menlo with 11 kills while Simone Adam added nine kills to go with seven digs and three aces.
Setters Zoe Gregory had 23 assists, seven digs and Hanna Hoffman had seven assists, eight kills and eight digs. Hallie Mac Donald was credited with 15 digs. Jazi Chen, a senior, and Lily Kautai, a freshman, were 4 of 6 hitting for the Knights.
Sacred Heart Prep played without senior team captain Millie Muir, who is heading to Duke in the fall. She was injured during practice on Friday. The extent of the injury was not immediately known and she used crutches to cheer on her teammates.
In her absence, Dani Parker, Mia Radeff, Tatum Baker, Kellyn Zim and Sara Alnajjar combined for 25 kills and 28 digs. Isabelle Marco, who normally shares setting and hitting duties with Muir, became the full-time setter.
Alnajjar had 12 digs and EllieWheeler added 11 for SHP (24-5), which will still advance to the NorCal Regional Championships that get underway on Tuesday, Nov. 9.

No. 4 St. Francis (18-10) took care of business with No. 5 Hillsdale (23-2), which had only lost to Menlo before Saturday, 25-14, 25-14, 25-16.
The Lancers meet Mitty for the fourth time this season in Wednesday’s semifinal. Mitty topped No. 8 Salinas, 25-13, 25-21, 25-14. St. Francis won both league matches against the Monarchs and fell in a tournament match.
No. 7 Menlo-Atherton was down two sets to one before rallying for the victory over No. 11 Fremont, the only one of four SCVAL teams to lose Saturday.
The Bears (16-17), who won the match 25-18, 21-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-5, plays at No. 2 seed Palo Alto at 7 p.m. Tuesday. M-A and Paly met in the season opener.
Gunn won its match 25-10, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18 at home against Piedmont Hills. The fifth-seeded Titans (14-19) travel to No. 4 Monta Vista (12-11) on Tuesday.
Top-seeded Mountain View hosts No. 8 Cupertino, a straight-set winner over Alisal, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
No. 3 Los Altos takes on No. 6 San Benito, a 25-19, 21-25, 25-14, 25-18 victor over North Salinas.
In Division V, top-seed Castilleja hosts No. 8 Nueva at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Nueva went on the road and beat No. 9 Santa Catalina 25-20, 26-28, 25-16, 26-24. Nueva was down 22-21 in the fourth set before rallying.
