Palo Alto finished second at the CIF State Girls Golf Championships at Poppy Hills Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Vikings recorded a team score of 387, behind only Granite Bay’s 371. Central Coast Section champion Valley Christian was third with a score of 388.
Lauren Sung finished in a ninth-place tie with a 1-over 72 as Palo Alto’s top golfer. Sydney Sung fired a 73 and finished in a tie for 17th overall.
Bridget O’Keefe tied for 24th with a round of 76 and Alexa Pineda tied for 34th with a round of 79. Allyson Lee was 47th and Meighan Lew 52nd.
Los Altos’ Sophie Thai, playing as an individual, finished in a 17th place tie with a round of 73. Camille Thai tied for 22nd, shooting a 75.
Palo Alto won the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League title and placed third at the CCS tournament to qualify for state. The Vikings were state champions in 2019.
