Local nonprofit offers no-cost
home repairs to eligible homeowners
Since 1989, Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP) has been ensuring safe and healthy homes for our neighbors to age in place and live in comfort.
RTP offers a variety of repairs, at no cost to eligible homeowners, including grab bar and ramp installations, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, window and door replacement, fence and gate work, and other modifications that provide a safer and more comfortable home environment.

RTP’s community impact
Across 36 years, RTP has provided over 4,000 homes with critical repairs and modifications. This has helped countless Peninsula neighbors to age in place safely, maintain affordable home ownership, keep the generational wealth a healthy home provides, and remain in their communities.

“I don’t know how to express my happy feelings to say ‘thank you’. All of you worked very hard to help a needful client like me for my old home … so, now I feel very happy to have peace of mind to live in my lovely home for more long long (sic) time”, offered “Mary”, an 85-year-old Mountain View homeowner living on her own.
Mary received a new roof on her mobile home last year, in addition to a new toilet, water heater, and minor carpentry repairs.
Who is eligible for RTP’s repairs?
Homeowners may qualify for RTP service if:
- Their home is in San Mateo County, Mountain View, Los Altos, or Palo Alto
- Their home is their primary residence, and
- Their total gross household income falls within San Mateo County’s or Santa Clara County’s limits of 80% Area Median Income (AMI) or less.
Current AMIs limits are available at respective site links for San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties at www.rtpeninsula.org/apply-for-repairs.
How does one apply for RTP services?
Interested and eligible homeowners can access an application at www.rtpeninsula.org/apply-for-repairs. Note: Applicants will need to provide proof of homeownership and income documentation to be approved.
Or, you can contact RTP at (650) 366-6597 or via email at apply@rtpeninsula.org for an application or for answers to questions.
¡La aplicación de RTP también está disponible en español!

How does the RTP program work?
Once all required paperwork is submitted and an application is completed, RTP staff works with the homeowner to assess the needs and prioritize the requested repairs. This includes in-person visits by trained previewers.
Eligible projects are submitted for funding approval, and then scheduled for completion by skilled technicians, volunteers, or certified subcontractors.
Words from a happy homeowner: Sergio, a San Mateo County homeowner who, in 2024, RTP helped said, “Thank you so much for the wonderful work at our home. We are so thankful for this opportunity to have some much needed repairs to our home. This is a wonderful organization helping the community.”
