Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down all northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 south of University Avenue on Memorial Day, according to Officer Jovita Ojeda of the California Highway Patrol – Redwood City Office.
The collision, which involved a white Toyota RAV4, a blue Toyota Camry, a white Tesla and a red Honda, occurred shortly before 2:27 p.m. on Monday, May 26, Ojeda said.
It’s unclear what caused the crash, but according to Ojeda, two people, including the Camry driver, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. Ojeda said the Camry caught fire during the crash, but the driver was able to get out of the vehicle. Details about the other injured person, including what car they were in, were not immediately available, according to Ojeda.
CHP first reported the crash and lane closure on X Monday afternoon.
Lanes reopened just after 4 pm.
