There will be temporary road closures and parking restrictions in downtown Mountain View over the next month, as PG&E completes work related to an affordable housing project.

The construction is expected to impact Mercy Street between Bryant Street and Shoreline Boulevard from Oct. 19 through Nov. 20, according to a city press release. Some on-street parking spots will be unavailable and there will be intermittent road closures. Construction noise associated with open trenching is also expected, the city said.

PG&E’s work is tied to the Corso project, a housing development at the corner of Bryant and Mercy, across the street from Mountain View City Hall. The 1.5-acre site used to be a public parking lot, known as Lot 12. The 120 affordable apartments are expected to open to residents in early 2028.

At certain times during PG&E’s work, Mercy will operate as a one-way street, closed on the Corso side. Parking in the City Hall and Mountain View Public Library parking garages will remain available, but drivers will need to enter from the Franklin/Shoreline side and exit towards Castro Street. Signs and flaggers will be there when traffic is impacted, the city said.
