YOU HAVE just two short weeks to RSVP to the swanky big-time affair known simply as the CSMA Gala 2006 — and I tell you this so you can start saving up now, for it costs $250 a head.

Billed as “a black-tie, high-heel tribute,” this event is what happens when our favorite nonprofit, Community School of Music and Arts, pulls out the stops. CSMA is honoring its outgoing executive director, Angela McConnell, and it should — since taking over in 2001, McConnell has earned millions for the school, overseen its transition to the Finn Center in 2004, and generally steered it to the level of world-class provider of arts education programs.

Like I said, you have until March 10 to RSVP. Do so by contacting (650) 917-6800 Ext. 329, or sthakkar

* Dan Paisley and the Southern Grass on March 4

* Robin & Linda Williams and Their Fine Group on April 1

* The Dale Ann Bradley Band on April 22

Anyone with a Saturday off in their future ought to make it to at least one of these. For some reason (maybe the acoustics) churches make great venues. And that goes double for fast-and-loose music like bluegrass.

All the above-mentioned shows start at 8 p.m., and all cost $15 in advance, $18 at the door. First Presbyterian is located at 1667 Miramonte Ave. Contact (650) 691-9982 or www.rba.org for more info. …

IN KEEPING with its mission, the League of Women Voters is holding a “Meet Your Elected Officials” event this Sunday, Feb. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at City Hall.

The League is one of the few groups I can think of that commands so much respect simply for being so good — so noble in its purpose, for so many years, that no one can deny it.

Obviously, these meet-your-official events are standard for the League — but you knew that already. What you may not have known is who runs Mountain View, Los Altos, LA Hills, El Camino Hospital, Mid-Pen Open Space, the school districts, etc. Here’s your chance.
