Attempted Strong Arm Robbery, Safeway on California Street, 3/27

At around 9:12 p.m., Safeway staff members noticed two men in the store pushing shopping carts filled with toilet paper. The men passed the registers without paying and attempted to leave store with the carts. An employee blocked the door to prevent them from leaving, but one of the men charged the worker and hit him with his body, knocking him down and causing injury. The suspects then abandoned the cart and fled in a car. The injured staff member received medical treatment and the other workers located numerous boxes of Claritin — a cold medicine regulated due to its use in manufacturing methamphetamine — buried among the toilet paper.
