Los Altos Educational Foundation meets fundraising goal
The Los Altos Educational Foundation announced that it has raised $1.45 million, its total financial commitment to the Los Altos School District for the 2005-06 school year. Over the past two decades, LAEF increased its fundraising goal for LASD twenty-fold in response to declining state funding.“Once again Los Altos community members have affirmed their support of our public schools through their generous donations, and this has enabled the district to deliver the best public education in the state,” said Mike Maciag, LAEF president.
Local student places in art competition
A local student received honorable mention when Coca-Cola announced the Bay Area high school student winners of its art competition, “Art of Harmony.”Mountain View High School student Stephanie McDonald of Los Altos received honorable mention in the competition. Victoria Pichay of San Jose took first place, Nicole Tinawi of Palo Alto took second, and Brendan Wagner of Menlo Park took third. Awards were presented at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts on May 8.
