It feels like we’re hurtling through 2024 at warp speed. Summer technically just started, but back-to-school season is only a few weeks away, followed in quick succession by Labor Day and the beginning of fall. I’m already savoring every ripe heirloom tomato and mild evening on the patio, squirreling moments of summer away for wintertime rationing.
Fortunately, we’ve barely made a dent in the summer events calendar. Summer concerts, movie nights, festivals and markets – all that and more is waiting for you the rest of this month and beyond. From a new car show organized by the team behind Dream Machines on the Coastside to a pickleball tourney in South City to the Obon Festival at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple, discover all that July has to offer in our Peninsula-wide guide.
Desperately seeking Karl the Fog,

Portola Valley-based optical illusionist creates the impossible
What if it was possible to shrink an adult man with just a cardboard box? This perplexing image has been made possible with the “Shrink Machine” made by French optical illusion designer Olivier Redon and his 16-year-old daughter Chloe Redon. By strategically tricking the human eye, Olivier uses his art to make the impossible possible.
