Community event: Obon Festival
The Mountain View Buddhist Temple’s annual Obon festival takes place this weekend, July 16-17, with taiko drumming performances, food, displays, crafts, games and demonstrations at 575 N. Shoreline Blvd. Free admission. Saturday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 8:30 p.m. The Bon Odori folk dance will take place at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Street fair: Connoisseurs’ Marketplace
Downtown Menlo Park hosts its annual street art fair, Connoisseurs’ Marketplace, this Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Santa Cruz Avenue. The event features artists’ booths, chef demonstrations and a car show.
The Heath Brothers, saxophonist Jimmy and drummer Albert “Tootie,” will perform Sunday, July 17, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Stanford Jazz Festival. The concert is at Dinkelspiel Auditorium on campus.
