Attend Mountain View’s Multicultural Festival later this month
The city of Mountain View plans to host its annual Multicultural Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, at the plaza outside City Hall, 500 Castro St.
The festival is meant to recognize the Mountain View’s cultural diversity by bringing together residents to share and learn about people of all backgrounds, according to the city’s website.
The event will include dance, music and vocal performances from various cultures, crafts and community resource tables.
Applications open for Mountain View’s Chinese Language Civic Leadership Academy
Applications are due April 1 for the city’s 2024 Chinese Language Civic Leadership Academy.
The eight-week program for Chinese-speaking Mountain View residents is free and meant to improve participants’ understanding of local government and services. The academy also prepares participants to serve on City Council advisory bodies and committees, according to the city’s website.
The program will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from April 17 through June 5. Space is limited to 18 participants.
Now in it’s second year, the program launched in 2022 as an expansion of the city’s Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy. Information and applications are available in English and Chinese. For more information and to apply, visit the academy’s webpage.
Mentor Tutor Connection to host Casino Royale fundraiser
The local nonprofit Mentor Tutor Connection plans to host a Casino Royale fundraiser from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on April 19 at Michael’s at Shoreline, 2960 N. Shoreline Blvd.
Tickets are $140, $65 of which is a tax-deductible donation to Mentor Tutor Connection.
The Mountain View-based nonprofit recruits and trains volunteers to work with students in Mountain View and Los Altos schools. Tutors help elementary and middle schoolers with their class assignments, while mentors work with high school students.
