Man allegedly robs Clyde’s Liquors with box cutter

A man was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of robbery and assault after allegedly attacking a Mountain View liquor store employee with a box cutter, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

Dispatchers received a call around 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 17 reporting a robbery at Clyde’s Liquors and Wine at 239 W. El Camino Real. An employee told police officers that a man had taken items from the store without paying for them. When the employee demanded payment, the suspect pulled out a box cutter and swung it at the employee, police said.

Officers located the suspect a short distance away from the store. The victim positively identified the man and wished to press charges. Officers arrested the suspect, a 29-year-old San Jose resident, on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The suspect is being held at Santa Clara County Main Jail with a bail set at $75,000, according to county records.

Police arrest three after fight reported at Chili’s

On Sunday evening, Feb. 16, police responded to a report of a fight in progress in the bathroom of the Chili’s Grill & Bar, located at 2560 W. El Camino Real in Mountain View. Two men were allegedly involved in an altercation that led to the arrest of three men, according to police.

Police say that the aggressor, identified as a 19-year-old Mountain View resident, reportedly punched another man, a 22-year-old East Palo Alto resident, multiple times in the face. The men did not know each other prior to the incident, police said.

The victim sustained injuries and wished to press charges. Officers arrested the Mountain View man on suspicion of battery, police said.

Officers also arrested the victim and a friend, a 54-year-old Mountain View resident, for public intoxication. The victim and friend, who was not involved in the bathroom fight, were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and uncooperative with the investigation, police said.
