Summer doesn’t officially start until later this month, but hot weather is coming early, with the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory for parts of the Bay Area, including Mountain View, on Thursday.
The heat advisory is expected to be in effect from noon to 11 p.m. June 11. Temperatures in Mountain View are expected to exceed 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
In light of the high temperatures, the city of Mountain View is publicizing three air-conditioned locations for local community members to cool off:
Police Services Fire Administration Building, 1000 Villa St. The lobby will be open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. The lobby will be open to the public 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
Mountain View Public Library, 585 Franklin St. The library will be open to the public 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Friday.
Additionally, in a press release, the Mountain View Fire Department encouraged residents to keep hydrated, stay in air-conditioned buildings, limit outdoor activities during the hottest times of day, avoid leaving children or pets in cars, and be aware of pavement temperatures while walking dogs.
