Mountain View police arrested a 42-year-old Emeryville man for allegedly stabbing a woman with a knife on Sunday afternoon at a Mountain View residence, police said.
Mountain View police officers were dispatched to a home on Claire Court at 3:39 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, after emergency dispatchers received a report of a stabbing, according to a police department press release.
A woman had contacted the police to tell them that her brother had just stabbed her friend, Mountain View Police Department spokesperson Monica Leon said. A resident of the house restrained the brother before police arrived, Leon said.
When the police officers got there, they found someone who had “injuries consistent with being stabbed.” Officers provided medical aid until Mountain View firefighters arrived, the release said. The victim was ultimately transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
The 55-year-old woman who was stabbed continues to receive treatment for her injuries, Leon said.
Police officers arrested the suspect “without incident” and brought him to the Mountain View Police Department, the release said. He was ultimately arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Mail Jail on one count of attempted murder, the release said.
The suspect is being held without bail, with a court date set for April 4, according to county records.
