A woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing at a Mountain View residence Sunday afternoon, according to a press release from the Mountain View Police Department.

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 2:45 p.m. on March 30 reporting a domestic violence dispute at a home at the 900 block of E. El Camino Real. When officers arrived, they saw a man bleeding from his hand. The injury was consistent with a stab wound, police said.

The Mountain View Fire Department provided medical treatment for the injury, according to the press release.

The victim knew the woman from a prior relationship and was home during the attack, police said. A confrontation occurred when the woman came to his door and then escalated as she allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed the victim in the hand. The woman also attempted to break into the home, according to the press release.

The suspect then fled in her vehicle before police arrived, the press release said. The San Jose Police Department later located the woman in her vehicle, which also had a firearm in it, according to the statement.

The suspect, a 39-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting injury on a domestic partner, residential burglary and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, according to the statement.

During the booking process, officers found suspected methamphetamine on the woman’s person, leading to an additional charge of bringing contraband into a secured facility, police said.

The woman is being held without bail and has a scheduled court hearing for April 3, according to county records.
