Julia Miller, a former Sunnyvale City Council member, is a longtime incumbent on the El Camino Healthcare District board, with more than a decade of experience.

Miller says health care is complex, challenging and changing but she is up to the task. “With 12 years of experience, knowing the executive team, policies and procedures, the work of my various committee assignments and leadership positions provide me the qualifications to continue as a board member,” she said.

Miller’s top three priorities align with many of the district’s priorities. She would like to see it maintain local control and a strong financial position, as well as continue to provide community benefits and quality care and safety to patients, workers, doctors and administrators.

Looking ahead, Miller says she would like to see the district establish a comprehensive stroke center in the next couple of years, as well as an infusion center to administer new drugs for Alzheimer’s disease.

Miller also says she would like to see El Camino Health work with surrounding cities to provide affordable housing for its workforce as well as identify strategies and plans for its undeveloped land. Exploring innovative and affordable health care for seniors is another issue to address, Miller said.

In respect to the district’s community benefits program, Miller says the money has been well spent and fine-tuned over the years. Still, there could be a greater focus on wellness and prevention, Miller said.

In terms of governance structure, Miller gives the district and El Camino Health an “excellent” rating for transparency, adding that it follows best practices, rules and regulations.More information about Miller’s campaign can be found on her website, https://juliamiller.net/experience.
