Two longtime incumbents have taken the lead in campaign fundraising efforts for the El Camino Healthcare District race. Four candidates are vying for the chance to fill three seats that are up for grabs on Nov. 5.

Incumbent John Zoglin, a digital marketing executive, has raised the most money, bringing in about $36,500 this year, according to recent campaign finance statements. Zoglin has partially financed his campaign with a $10,000 loan.

Incumbent Julia Miller, a former Sunnyvale City Council member, closely follows Zoglin and has raised about $33,300 this year. Miller has similarly financed her campaign with a $10,000 loan.

Miller also has received the backing of local trade and health care unions and elected officials. Miller picked up support from state Sen. Josh Becker ($250), Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee ($200), and Mountain View City Council member Lucas Ramirez ($100). Miller also has received $3,000 in contributions from John Sobrato, a prominent real estate developer.

Lynette Lee Eng, a Los Altos City Council member and a newcomer to the race, has raised about $26,600 this year. A bulk of the fundraising comes from a $15,000 committee contribution in Lee Eng’s name.

Dr. Carol Ann Somersille, a gynecologist and obstetrician who has served one term on the El Camino Healthcare District board, has raised about $22,400. Part of her campaign is financed with a $4,000 loan.

Expenditures

Zoglin has also come out on top in terms of campaign expenditures, spending about $34,900 this year. Most of it has gone towards campaign literature, mailings and print ads.

Le Eng has spent about $29,100, which exceeds her contributions so far. Most of the expenditures have been on campaign literature, mailings and yard signs.

Miller has spent about $20,900, with a bulk of it going towards, mailers, advertisements and media.

Somersille has spent far less than the other candidates, only about $9,000, with expenditures largely going towards digital advertising and door hangers.
