You’re invited to Slater’s 50th birthday party
Slater School invites the community to join in a celebration of the elementary school’s 50th birthday this Saturday, April 1 from 3 to 5 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a performance from Slater’s student chorus, as well as a magician, 50 years of photos from Slater’s history, music, and of course, birthday cake. The celebration of Slater’s 50 years in Mountain View will double as a going-away party for the school. When the school year ends this June, Slater School will close for at least the next five years. The Mountain View-Whisman Board of Trustees recently approved a joint use agreement for Google to have child care at the site.
To prepare for Slater’s upcoming closure, Slater teachers and students have worked on a timeline that chronicles important Slater events. At the party on April 1, partygoers will be able to add items to the timeline to commemorate the school’s long history in Mountain View.
The school is located at 325 Gladys Ave. in Mountain View. Call (650) 526-3530 with questions or information about Slater’s history.
