Virginia Lee Campbell
Virginia Lee Campbell, a resident of Mountain View for her entire life, died peacefully in her sleep on March 15 after a brief illness. She was 87.She was born in Mountain View on Oct. 7, 1919 to a family with roots in the city going back 125 years. Her uncles, Johnny and George Campbell, owned one of the first construction companies in town.
In 1941, she began working for Southern Pacific Railroad as a rate accountant, and she worked for the company for 40 years until her retirement. In her free time, she loved travel and spending time with her family and friends.
Campbell’s fondest Mountain View memory was when Jimmy Stewart opened the door for her at the local pharmacy while he was stationed at Moffett Field for training during World War II.
She is survived by two sisters, Lucille Donahue, and Alberta McQueen, and many nieces and nephews. No services will be held.
