Mountain View police are trying to figure out what happened inside a parked vehicle in Mountain View on Tuesday afternoon after two people reported seeing a man assaulting a woman who unsuccessfully attempted get out of the car.
The struggle took place in the area of the 400 block of North Whisman Road around 1:28 p.m., Mountain View police said.
It remains unclear whether the woman was being held against her will, but the reporting parties told police that she appeared to try to exit the car but was unable to. They also told police it looked like the woman was being assaulted and in need of help.
The vehicle in question had left the area by the time police arrived.
The car is described as a 1990s white, four-door, compact or mid-sized vehicle with a California license plate similar to 5KNV525. It also had three distinct scratches on the driver’s side rear bumper, according to police.
The man is described as white and in his early 20s, standing about 6 feet tall and of slim build with blond, spiky hair and a clean-shaven face. He was wearing a blue-hooded sweatshirt.
The woman is described as black, in her late teens and of average build. She was wearing her hair in a ponytail.
