Menlo-Atherton got off to a 14-0 lead and never trailed Friday night in its 35-24 non league victory at Oak Ridge.
But the Bears needed a big play at the end; and got one from Jalen Moss.

Trailing 28-24, Oak Ridge forced an M-A punt with two minutes left and took a shot at the goal line. Moss came down with an interception and returned it 99 yards for a clinching touchdown.
Matt MacLeod ran for a touchdown and connected with Jeremiah Earby on a long post pattern as M-A (3-2) took a 14-3 lead at halftime.
Oak Ridge scored on a quarterback run in the third quarter to make it 14-10. M-A responded when Dane Fifita picked up a loose ball after a strip sack and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.
Later in the second half MacLeod passed to Johno Price for a touchdown.
“(Inside linebacker) Sione Vaka had a great game,” M-A coach Chris Saunders said. “He was all over the place. (Free safety) Thomas Taufui was in their backfield all game. He is turning into quite the defensive menace.”
