Cat controversy highlights problems with informing the public
It was the animal control ordinance that nearly got away -- and caused some finger pointing over why thousands of cat and dog owners in the city were not informed. Among the practices being blamed is the city's use of an obscure legal newspaper to post meeting agendas, a practice the City Council may vote to extend tonight. (Tuesday, 1:57 PM)

Art: 'Gravity LTD'
Mountain View artist Jay Hill brings his vivid, spray-painted art to Palo Alto's New Coast Studios for an exhibit with South Bay sculptor Ryan Carrington. City seeking Stevens Creek group volunteers

The day the video store died
Nostalgia lines the shelves in Videoscope, Mountain View's last video rental store. Videoscope, located at 2290 W. El Camino Real, is the latest victim, following in the footsteps of video rental franchises Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. Art: 'Felines & Florals'
Artist Jane W. Ferguson, who works in watermedia on paper and canvas, is showing paintings of cats and blossoms at Viewpoints Gallery this month. The free exhibit is up through June 30 at 315 State St. in Los Altos. The artist, a native of England, has been showing her work since 1998. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Theater: 'Boeing Boeing'
The opening show of the Palo Alto Players' "Boeing Boeing" will be Saturday, June 15, at 8 p.m. Bernard, an American in Paris with an apartment conveniently located near Orly airport, is a magnet for all the stewardesses who fly through. There will also be a show on Sunday, June 16, at 2:30 p.m. Both are at the Lucie Stern Theater on 1305 Middlefield Road.
Festival: World Music Day
Palo Alto World Music Day is a music festival that takes places every year on Father's Day. It will be celebrated for the fifth time in Palo Alto on Sunday June 16, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. on University Avenue (closed to traffic) and King Plaza.

Review: Wild, wacky and wonderful
Colman Domingo, playwright and actor for TheatreWorks' latest show, is a bit of a native son, having done a fair amount of acting locally before making his way on Broadway and film. He returns to us in his most recent work, "Wild With Happy," a play that was a hit at TheatreWorks' New Works Festival in 2011 and ran to acclaim at New York's Public Theater before coming here. Theater: 'Wild With Happy'
TheatreWorks' new comedy is performed tonight, June 13, at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. "Wild With Happy," by Colman Domingo, is about a struggling actor who decides to mourn his late mother in a joyous new way. Power restored after early morning outage

Council hesitant to boost library funding

Huge gang bust nets 39 arrests
All but nine of 48 alleged members or associates of the Nuestra Familia criminal gang indicted in May are in custody in the largest gang prosecution ever in Santa Clara County, the district attorney's office said Tuesday, June 11. Google denies giving NSA "direct access" to user data
