Open space district seeks members for bond oversight committee

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is looking for applicants to join the independent citizen oversight committee that monitors the district’s use of Measure AA bond funds.

Approved by voters in 2014, Measure AA is a $300 million general obligation bond, the proceeds of which Midpen uses to preserve natural open space, restore the natural environment and create more public access opportunities, according to a Midpen press release.

Four seats are currently vacant on the seven-member citizen oversight committee, which convenes several times a year. Terms are for four years. Applicants must live within Midpen’s jurisdiction, which includes parts of Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. Midpen’s board will then select the new committee members at an upcoming meeting, according to the press release.
