We have it lucky!

Across the nation, communities are losing their local newspapers, leaving their residents devoid of reliable information about their city council, school board, local businesses and everything else around town.

The Embarcadero Media Foundation have also faced the severe headwinds confronting all local publishers, losing nearly half our print revenues since 2019. But we have a special super power that fuels us: our communities.

With the increased community support that has come since becoming a nonprofit last year, we experienced our first profitable year since 2019!

We also just earned 38 California Journalism Awards for our coverage in 2024, ranging from our investigative, government, schools, youth, environment, housing and technology reporting.

With this track record of great journalism and these green shoots of financial growth, we’re already pushing ahead to do more! This spring we plan to add three new reporters to the peninsula to cover our communities even more deeply.

But our super power can quickly fade if people like you don’t do your part and recognize that local news is an essential ingredient in making our local community strong. We need your help by becoming a member. You’ll get a discount on our membership fees by acting during this membership drive.

Local journalism is the lifeblood of a well-informed society. It keeps us connected, holds our leaders accountable, and provides a platform for diverse voices within our community. Without it, we risk losing touch with the very issues that shape our daily lives.

Please join the rest of the community to keep local news strong here on the Peninsula. Become a member today!
