Downtown Wi-Fi outage
Mountain View’s free public outdoor Wi-Fi service is temporarily offline this week for a scheduled system upgrade involving equipment replacement.
The Wi-Fi service, which covers the downtown area and shows up on devices as MVWiFi, was unavailable starting on Monday. The service is expected to be restored in stages over the next seven to 10 days, according to a city news release.
Indoor Wi-Fi service is still available at the public library, senior center, community center and teen center, the city said.
The city described the equipment replacement as a major upgrade to its Wi-Fi system.
Meet and Greet on Castro Street
The Mountain View Downtown Business Association is hosting a free event for the public to meet with local business leaders and discuss downtown issues next week.
The meet and greet will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Monte Carlo Niteclub, 228 Castro St. Store owners and general managers will share their experiences running small businesses in downtown Mountain View.
“We want to spotlight our diverse downtown and peek behind the curtain,” said Peter Katz, president and CEO of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, in a press release.
The event will also feature a panel discussion with local business owners moderated by Christian Murdock, the city’s community development director.
Table seating will be offered at the event with free food and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the bar, according to the press release.

Annual Stevens Creek Trail race
The Friends of Stevens Creek Trail is gearing up to host its annual Trailblazer race on Sunday, Sept. 28.
The event features a 5K and 10K race, as well as a 3-mile walk. All events will start and end on Stevens Creek Trail. The 5K and 10K races head north on Stevens Creek Trail and go into Shoreline Park while the walk heads south on the trail, going to the Evelyn Avenue bridge and back.
Participating in the races costs approximately $40-$55, with the money raised benefitting the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, a local nonprofit dedicated to extending the Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor.
The event is open to participants of all ages, and the 5K and 10K races are on asphalt and stroller-friendly. The 3-mile walk is on a flat gravel surface and shaded by trees. Dogs are not allowed at Shoreline Park.
Participants who register by Sept. 24 can pick up race packets at Road Runner Sports, 301 W. McKinley Ave., Sunnyvale. Packets also will be available on Sept. 28 at the race site where participants will meet, which is the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus, 1045 La Avenida St.
