A Mountain View man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly trying to hit a woman and her 4-year-old child with a vehicle on Thursday evening, Feb. 29. Neither the woman nor child were injured, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

The suspect, Antonio Escobar Perez, 29, knew the woman and was upset with her for accusing him of an unrelated incident, police said. Around 7:40 p.m., Perez tried to hit her and the child with his vehicle while they were standing in the roadway at the 2400 block of Wyandotte Street, according to police.

Police officers located Perez and arrested him for the alleged assault. During the arrest, they also discovered Perez carrying suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, police said.

Perez was being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on March 5, according to the District Attorney’s office.

Perez is being charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, dissuading a witness from giving testimony, offenses involving a controlled substance and child endangerment, according to the District Attorney’s office.
