A Mountain View barber has been charged with the sexual assault of two men and kidnapping, and may have assaulted at least 20 different men over several years, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

The suspect, Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, 34, is a fugitive and police are actively looking for information about his whereabouts, according to a statement from the District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The Mountain View Police Department launched an investigation in July after a man reported that he had woken up woozy and injured after having drinks with Sarceno Orla. Forensic testing revealed that the man had been sexually assaulted. Another man also reported to the police that he had lost consciousness after having beers with his barber, the news release said.

Evidence collected by police shows that Sarceno Orla may have assaulted at least 20 different men who appeared to be severely intoxicated and passed out, dating back to at least 2018. Many of the assaults were videotaped, the news release said.

Sarceno Orla was arrested for sexual assault in August and was released after he posted a $250,000 bail, according to the news release.

The District Attorney’s Office has identified Sarceno Orla as a fugitive and is asking for the public’s help to find him.

“There was a sexual predator in our community, and we thank the Mountain View Police Department for identifying him,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in the news release. “With the help of courageous victims, investigators, and the public we will soon have him in custody to keep him from ever hurting anyone again.”

If caught and convicted, Sarceno Orla could face up to life in prison for the charges, the news release said.

The Mountain View Police Department is still working to identify victims.

“We encourage anyone who believes they may be a victim, or a witness, to come forward and reach out to our detectives as soon as possible. We are dedicated to ensuring every victim is heard and we will follow up with any additional crimes that are uncovered,” said police Capt. Scott Nelson in an emailed statement.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by the suspect may contact the Mountain View Police Department at (650) 903-6618 or email Det. Lauren Riffel at lauren.riffel@mountainview.gov or Det. Guillermo de Lira at guillermo.delira@mountainview.gov.
