The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters has declared six winners of its inaugural “I Voted” sticker design contest.

The contest, which was launched in the spring, invited students from kindergarten through college and trade school to design original “I Voted” stickers for the upcoming general election in November.

The Registrar of Voters received over 200 sticker design submissions for the contest, before selecting 30 finalists for a public online vote, where over 10,000 votes were cast, according to a statement from Registrar of Voters Matt Moreles.

The Registrar of Voters office originally planned to select one winner from each of three student categories – grades K-8, high school and higher-education — but ended up choosing two from each category, citing the “breadth and variety” of the contest’s design submissions.

Registered Santa Clara County voters will receive one of the six winning stickers in their vote by mail packets for the general election in November. The six winning stickers will also be distributed to in-person voters at Santa Clara County vote centers.

According to the county, the contest serves as an effort to get young students involved with the electoral process and celebrate voting, democracy and civic participation.

“Whether they celebrated Santa Clara County or simply made people smile, these designs gave students a creative way to take part in civic life,” Moreles said in a statement. “We hope that experience is the beginning of a lifelong habit of participation for these young artists.”

With the success of this year’s inaugural sticker design contest, the Registrar of Voters expects to continue holding similar sticker design contests in the future. The next contest is currently planned to be held in late 2027, to select stickers for the 2028 general election, according to the county.
