A fire broke out in the attic of a single-family home near Mountain View High School early Wednesday morning, causing about $10,000 in damage, according to the Mountain View Fire Department.

Emergency dispatchers received a call at 4:35 a.m. April 22 reporting a fire at a house on the 1100 block of Bruckner Circle, the Mountain View Fire Department said in an Instagram post. Firefighters arrived on scene six minutes later and found active flames coming from the attic of the residence. The home’s occupant had already evacuated.

Using a fire attack hose line, crews extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading farther into the home. Firefighters measured the heat behind the drywall and in the attic with thermal imaging cameras to ensure that the fire had been completely put out, the post said.

The estimated damage to the house and its contents is $10,000, according to the post.

The Mountain View Police Department controlled traffic for an hour and a half while fire crews were on scene. The home’s occupant was allowed back inside.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
