Serving the Palo Alto community since 1986, Chinese restaurant Jing Jing Gourmet will close its doors on Sunday.

“We want to express our deepest thanks for your patronage over the years,” read a statement on the restaurant website. “It has been an honor serving this community for 38 years and we are so grateful for your support and friendship.”

The restaurant serves Szechan and Hunan food, which are styles of Chinese cuisine that use spicy, oily and sour flavors.

Some of their popular dishes include wontons in chili oil and mu-shu pork, served with vegetables and Chinese pancakes, and special dishes like kung pao lamb and dry shredded beef, which is pan fried until crispy.

With rising costs of labor, ingredients and a change of commuter dining habits, restaurant owners decided not to renew their lease after May, according to the Mercury News.

Still, its owners hope to continue serving food.

“Although this location is closing, we hope to stay connected with you and our community.  Stay tuned for potential new ventures in the future,” the restaurant owner wrote in a statement.

Jing Jing Gourmet is located on 443 Emerson St. in Palo Alto.
