MV hoopsters win CCS opener, fall to Mitty

The Mountain View’s boys basketball team overcame a season full of struggles to win its opening-round CCS game against Westmoor 76-61 last Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Then on Saturday night, the Spartans traveled to Santa Clara High School to take on the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs. Mountain View lost to Mitty 89-52, thus ending the 2005-06 season. The Spartans finish the year with a 10-18 record overall.

Lady Spartans fall in opening round

The Lady Spartans also began their CCS journey on Wednesday night when they played at Wilcox High School against the Chargers. Mountain View lost the bout 49-38. The team had a very solid season overall, compiling a 17-11 record.

Lancer boys advance in CCS

Despite a sub par season, the St. Francis boys basketball team won its opening-round CCS game against Willow Glen 63-52 on Thursday, Feb. 23. On Saturday, the Lancers tried to follow that up against Archbishop Riordan, but lost 47-37. The season was a struggle this year for St. Francis, which finished with a 13-15 overall record.

LA girls soccer ends amazing season

The Lady Eagles soccer team lost in its first-round game of CCS to Monta Vista 3-2 in overtime last week. The loss ended a stellar season for the Eagles in which the team went 12-0 in league play and 20-2 overall. During league play, the team allowed only one goal to be scored against them, while compiling an amazing 76 goals of their own.

Boys soccer beaten in CCS

The Eagles boys soccer team also advanced to CCS, but were defeated by Oak Grove 2-0. The loss ends a very strong campaign in which the team amassed a 9-2-1 league record and a 13-5-2 overall record.
