Jaden Norwood scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help Pinewood pull away from visiting Pacific Collegiate of Santa Cruz for a 77-69 non-league boys basketball victory on Monday night.
Norwood sank a pair of free throws early in the quarter to give the Panthers (2-1) a 57-55 lead. He then grabbed a rebound that led to a 3-pointer from a teammate.
Andrew McDowell extended the lead with a fast break lay-up, off another rebound from Norwood.
Pacific Collegiate (2-1) narrowed the lead to 68-65 with just under two minutes to play. Norwood responded with a 3-pointer of his own and Pinewood held on.
The Panthers travel to play at Basis Independent Silicon Valley in San Jose at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Boys soccer
Sophomore Oscar Melchor scored with an assist from senior Rafael Ulloa in the first half as Los Altos played to a 1-1 tie with visiting Cupertino in a non-league match Monday.
Los Altos (0-1-2) goes on the road to play Menlo-Atherton in a 5 p.m. non-league match on Thursday.
